Apex Community

Nestled into the southwest corner of Wake County just next to Cary, Apex is a town that is dramatically growing -- the current population of just over 28,000 is expected to more than double in the next ten years.  And that's not the only thing booming -- its business population is also considerably increasing.  Business North Carolina has named it the #1 Small Town in Economic Vitality, as well as the Best Small Town in NorthCarolina.

"The Peak of Good Living," as Apex is known, was originally settled around 1867 and was the highest point on the Chatham Railroad between Richmond, VA and Jacksonville, FL.  At that time, the town was an important shipping point for products such as turpentine, tar and lumber from the surrounding forestlands.  Today, Apex makes a point to continue that historic feel, both in its historic residential district and downtown, where the recently renovated facades of buildings along Salem Street still reflect eras gone by.  A mix of small town charm and brand new neighborhoods, Apex offers a unique personality blending past and present with community and commerce.
