Triangle Overview

Situated in the north-central region of North Carolina is an area called the Triangle, bordered by the capital city of Raleigh on one side and the cities of Durham and Chapel Hill on the other sides. The Triangle has a population of 650,000 and is one of the most rapidly growing metropolitan areas of our nation.

Three major Universities, Duke, the University of North Carolina and North Carolina State University, together with governmental and industrial resources, have been the stimuli for the creation of a broad range of new business and technological developments in the Triangle area, resulting in the identification of the area as the Silicon Valley of the South.

The wonderful climate of the region, its vibrantly healthy economic condition, the marvelous gifts of nature, its stately oaks, verdant hills, pristine lakes and streams, its wealth of cultural and educational facilities are all important factors in the area’s growth. The proximity to the Great Smokey and Blue Ridge Mountains to the west, and the Barrier Islands and miles of white sandy beaches to the east, offer residents incredible choices for travel and enjoyment.

It is no small wonder that the region has become renowned as one of the country’s finest places to live and work and is still enjoying such vibrant growth.
